Lincoln the Nationalist

There is a great post by John Fea on the Front Porch Republic site.  It has to do with Lincoln’s nationalism and it’s effects on the kind of country that we live in today.  It is a very even handed exploration of the topic, but I think the author definitely has localist sympathies.  I’ve found that Lincoln is easily our most misunderstood president.  Many in this country have boiled down his entire presidency to a single issue, that of slavery.  It would be hard to argue that Lincoln has little company when it comes to our most influential presidents, but I think that the full effects of his presidency is seldom considered fully.  It’s good to read a more reflective article on the topic.
